The beginning of the end. I’ve had it with prefix-web.

Ever get the feeling that the more “essential” services  you have you’re edging closer to the date were the weakest link in the system will be yourself?

Douglas Adams created an  Electric Monk in his time travelling noir detective  novel  that illustrates this point.

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency

The Electric Monk was a labour-saving device, like a dishwasher or a video recorder. Dishwashers washed tedious dishes for you, thus saving you the bother of washing them yourself, video recorders watched tedious television for you, thus saving you the bother of looking at it yourself; Electric Monks believed things for you, thus saving you what was becoming an increasingly onerous task, that of believing all the things the world expected you to believe.*

Monk 2.0 mates Monk 1.0,DVR with an API making it accessible from anywhere, anytime to talk with other people’s monks. To keep up the Adams fan fest we don’t really need to be here lying in front of this bulldozer and should just pop off to the pub for a pint?

Social media has become a meaningless, at best nominal,  phrase which without definition is as much use as arguing about god with a person that can’t define what they mean by god.    And that’s were I will start after the weekend

* like Keynesian interventions can save the USA
