I’m all a Twitter. Checking Domain name availability via twitter.

One of the things I love about software is also the most dangerous. Choice. The problem with this  double edged sword that I am about to pull out is that it may already have a clock radio and toaster attached to the hilt or to put it into the project manager’s parlance “was subject to  mission creep”

Thankfully Godaddy.com’s newest toy , Domaincheck , doesn’t suffer from this  as it’s as singular in purpose, eg  dagger like in it’s precision,  much like a Sgian dubh ( Black knife beloved by us Scots)  it basically  small, designed for the task at hand with no room for frippery.

To check a domain name via Twitter.

Follow  domaincheck   and  send a  Tweet with the domain name you wish to check availability on. e.g  d domaincheck www.nicedomain.com  and we’ll send back the availability of the domain.

Origins of Domaincheck

I dine with the kind of people that have more ideas in a lunchtime  than most do in a week. We’re rather fond on the Internet and nearly always get down to the choice of domain name prior to fully fleshing out the idea.   The only problem was that checking a name by phone was  for most parts tedious. By the time you get out the phone ,  stick a browser on ,  navigate to site  type in the domain it’s a real pain to wait for  and besides my chili relleno is getting cold. Now I can send quite a few names and then wait for the reply  by  direct even in areas where the data connection is week I can  usually get a SMS off. If you are still on a keypad then  it’s still tedious but  you certainly have in incentive to go for a smaller domain name
