Authenticity: You have less than 20 seconds to comply.
On the weekend I was suffering from fatigued ears. I had had my head in the cans for a couple of hours and the noise level in the house , oh heck I'm making up excuses for missing items that are embarrassing. So in this ego boosting post I'd like to say that I realize just how sensitive we are to sound while at the same time our brains can be totally fooled into hearing what's not really there.
Quick digression.
I used to mount photographs ( until a gallery took out an injunction da da bump) and the degree at which people can that an item isn't in line is amazingly narrow e.g under a degree. For me audio has been a little more forgiving since most people seem to think compressed music with no dynamic range is just the thing , the only thing , so surely they won't notice a change in background noise about 60db down .. er well yeah chalk that one up to learning experience. I know more now in four weeks of practical work than I have in the two years prior which means I'm two bloody years behind
now the Ego Boo
On my way to lunch today I switched channels in under 1/4 of a word I had gotten the fact that this was not a radio program but an infomercial. There was no music or other elements just a female voice but it just didn't sit right. It wasn't real and I wonder how many people get that "hit" of realization from such minimal cues and hopefully if the market does go the way of the conversation such fakes will become as annoyingly hissy and distasteful that we can mind-gate them out of our existence. Before we win the battle with the robots we first need to defeat the marketers
