I don't fly much,  let's just say that  I find the process annoying, the staff officious and frankly  incapable of providing anything other than the props of security theater.  If you have to though this service  Farecast which I played with in beta  has come to life. It's a predictive "stock" market of which routes are  likely to have a price increase, decrease or remain the same so  far the tracking for me has been pretty much on the money  for the routes I was looking on  to Atlanta and Portland, failing that it's pretty good  for finding real time deals too.
