Having swapped service to viatalk the other day I was annoyed  by Vonage and their locking out of my telco adapter to be exclusively "theirs"   Not an uncommon practice  people do it with subsidized phones, razors  and one use video cameras all the time   BUT!  I paid for this fricking box  and for the "privilege" of using their network Vonage have hobbled it to only be useful to them ( unless it's hacked )     So for now I am using X-lite  a softphone on the PC which  works pretty well, has a built in record feature ( me likey)  and  the sound quality is way in excess of my  existing Vonage system while being cheaper all I have to do is port my old number across , et voila,  more  features, cheaper international calls and a partridge in a pear tree
