Phoenix podcast meetup group.. Event one
After a day of looking at podcasting what better way to relax than go to a meetup related to.. go on guess? Firstly the venue, unlimited coffee in Glendale was better than the usual meetup fare where you have to work round noise, limited space and a population of people that really measure you by how much you consume while there. Coffee was good too which in relation to most of the crap I've had recently was a pleasant surprise.
As with most start ups it's a who does what, why and where they want to do this next
What's nice is an impromptu demo of the new boss br1 recorder which is well I thought I would be biased towards it but it has the same kind of compromises that my Zoom H4 has but for different reasons and while I have the ability to edit in the Zoom it's frustratingly annoying to do so but I can live with it since the x:y stereo pair on the top are pretty bloody good for the price.
Usual talk about video and what's overkill / underkill for web video. It's a bigger question than today though. While it may be impractical to deliver 1080p online today in 4-5 years it could be viable and now your content ( assuming it's not ephemeric ) is going to look like crap in relation.. Tis a pickle.
K two new books have appeared.
These are Secrets of Video Blogging and the insanely titled Hands-On Guide to Video Blogging and Podcasting: Emerging Media Tools for Business Communication one is on the casual end of the spectrum and the other is "serious" I will probably be spending some of the weekend, Dobh willing, on reading these.
