It's nice when you have a verb to describe the latest 2.0 noun advocates. Twitter(S)

Having been subjected to a little bit of "this is so cool"   by advocates  who then follow it up with  " if only we knew why..."   It's a solution in search of a problem.

For  the uninitiated Twitter is  an online update of what you  are currently doing.  These are delivered  to people's  IM's SMS or on their webpage/blog  via a badge.  Mine would currently say. "Writing a disparaging piece about twitter"    It's a glorified  IM away message with a fanclub.   Obviously there are more subtle ways of using this  but  presently it doesn't seem to be life changing when you see how many  marketing people are planning their  output  ( E.g  you think anyone that's running a campaign twitter is connected in realtime   ,and hasn't handed it off  to staff members is really interested in the near legendary "conversation" that's touted for the 2.0 citizens but just wants to talk at , not to and certainly it's pretty far from with ) to appear to be engaged , present and to pop in a buzz word  "authentic" , while cynically  plotting your author or musician's tour next "twitter"  suggests that as we're gaining immunity to the messages that every single social space is going to be , like the web has turned out for the mainstream,  more like mainstreet.. at Disney.

And here's a post from mashable that thankfully manages to place it in context.
