For whom the ringer chirps.. Iphone love fest over
iPhone update:
Well the love fest was over 1 day after the demo with annoying questions like. How long does it last, can you change the battery in situ , and will it be able to run 3rd party apps?
It's rather amusing that iphone's taking a slamming for being a closed system when the carriers, er so far carrier, it will run upon has been engaged in this hardware exclusivity bullshit for years. I wonder how long people would put up with having to change their appliances everytime they moved electric companies? Unless handsets are divorced from carriers these shennanigans will continue with either side being able to use the others as a shield.
Now the rant part. Video on phones is not innovative it's a logical extension of what we already have with portable device that have wifi the glorified radio modem that the cellphone is doesn't give a rats ass what it's told to carry as long as it's nicely formatted.
That carriers wish to charge by the mime type per meme type may seem like a good idea today but "subscription world" isn't going to take off and in most cases has been a lousy bet for users who wish to communicate, not chose their friends based on the network they are with. ( I would like to see a gang war at a school between the Razrs and the Sidekicks)
This had one good line in it.
