The incandescent light bulb is getting a little tired.

While there's an argument over the inventor depending on the country you are in. In the UK it's Joseph Swan and in the US ,Thomas Edison.   You can have the same argument about  TV, radio and many other items that have a culturally based answer.  Some bright ( sorry) people have created a thin layer of organic led's which hopefully I'll get to see in my lifetime ( that's assuming I don't tick off any more people today ;)  

There's a few challenges to solve before they become viable so meantime I will go back to finishing of my LED light controller project.
