A levy on blank media: This is one of those ideas that's anethema to me.  Being forced to pay an industry for not even using its products.  If anyone suggests to you that these are for your own good it may be time to go Mencken on their ass and start out with the black flag.  They want pirates?  I'm thoroughly opposed to piracy,  I hate the self serving entitlement BS that emanates from most of my friends re their justifications for "needing" to take the work of others just because they can.   Given the current climate, my choice  not to buy many products , Sony being one of them re their DRM BS, from this industry, should they work out a way to impose a tax on my back up disks, picture disks and  the odd video disk then I'm being asked to subsidise an illegal act which I am not party to.   So do you think that  a "sin" tax on marriage licences  distributed to sex workers would be acceptable? After all  that's breaking into another bunch of whores making money.
