One of those jabs that gives me little hope for the future: I spent some of last night speaking with a friend that teaches sophomore English at a college in GA  ( wait isn't that what the secondary schools are for? ) and they are scary. These are the "good" kids  yet not one person could define "contravene" and most can't work out that  1" margin should be present and 1". These people will likely graduate since colleges hate tossing money out the door,  it's way worse on night classes where businesses pick up the tab.
